WTU's Global Platform Events

WTU’s global platform initiatives include the World Trade Forum, the South-South Trade Forum, the World Summit of Young Entrepreneurs of the U.N., the World Tourism Marketing Summit, World Summit of Indigenous Entrepreneurs, and World Tourism Fortune Forum. All initiatives have been welcomed by the Secretary-General (See SG report A/58/319) and the General Assembly (See GA Resolution 58/220) as new global public-private-partnership mechanisms aimed at enhancing and expanding inclusive cooperation in trade, financial services, and human development for achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

These initiatives collectively provide an effective learning forum and framework engaging multilateral agencies, governmental bodies, private sector entrepreneurs and professionals in the fields of trade, finance, investment, technology and e-commerce to forge new partnerships and opportunities for growth and shared prosperity.

Recent Events and Activities
First World Tourism Marketing Summit was held in Nanjing, China, November 20-23, 2004.
  The first  World Tourism Marketing Summit (WTMS) was held in Nanjing, China between November 20th and 23rd, with over 400 tourism marketing experts from 44 countries. More....  
WTU Brings Chinese to Bermuda to Learn Secrets  of 'Insurance Heaven'

The WTU Global Secretariat facilitated twenty-five senior Chinese insurance regulators to come to Bermuda to learn about the Island's insurance model through a programme sponsored by ACE Limited, the world's largest insurance company.

 

The week-long programme was designed and conducted through a partnership between WTU and ACE to support China’s developing insurance market. To view local news coverage, click here

Retiring UNCTAD Secretary General Receives Lifetime Achievement Award at 9th WSYE in Brazil

During the celebration of the IX World Summit of Young Entrepreneurs in Sao Paulo, Brazil June 2004 the Lifetime Achievement Award honored the successful and dedicated career of an international development leader. H.E. Rubens Ricupero. Secretary General of UNCTAD.

Institute for Leadership Development
