With
over 56 ethnic groups and 29 global cultural and natural heritage sites,
China’s tourism industry is growing rapidly along with its reform and
modernization drive. A key to China’s success in the global tourism
industry is to continue to learn from best practices in marketing, to share
knowledge with global experts, and to develop strategic global partnership
for human and institutional capacity building in tourism. The World Tourism
Marketing Summit (WTMS) is an ongoing United Nations Global Partnership
Platform designed to facilitate advancements in promoting Chinese tourism
globally. The 2004 WTMS will be held in Nanjing, China, November 21-23,
2004. The
WTMS
will feature foreign speakers and presenters with tremendous expertise
in
global tourism and will act as a forum for discussions
regarding
the challenges
and prospects
in China’s tourism marketing
sector.
