1ST WORLD TOURISM MARKETING SUMMIT

About WTMS

The World Tourism Marketing Summit (WTMS) has been established as an integral part of the World Trade Forum, which is a United Nations Global Partnership, in response to the challenges raised by the World Travel and Tourism Council, ‘10+3’ Ministerial Conference in China and World Trade Organization. This exciting, meaningful and timely initiative aspires to boost the development of tourism worldwide, enhance cooperation between China and international tourism industry, and to explore new techniques in tourism marketing for outbound, inbound and domestic tourism.

2004 WTMS I Rationale
With over 56 ethnic groups and 29 global cultural and natural heritage sites, China’s tourism industry is growing rapidly along with its reform and modernization drive. A key to China’s success in the global tourism industry is to continue to learn from best practices in marketing, to share knowledge with global experts, and to develop strategic global partnership for human and institutional capacity building in tourism. The World Tourism Marketing Summit (WTMS) is an ongoing United Nations Global Partnership Platform designed to facilitate advancements in promoting Chinese tourism globally. The 2004 WTMS will be held in Nanjing, China, November 21-23, 2004. The WTMS will feature foreign speakers and presenters with tremendous expertise in global tourism and will act as a forum for discussions regarding the challenges and prospects in China’s tourism marketing sector.
